The WBRS Fall 1995Public service, put simply, is a chance for WBRS to give back to the community what the community gives to us. It is our chance to thank the community by providing information and announcements that might otherwise not be widely accesible to community members.
Everything from weather reports to reminders on infant immunization shots comes under this department. But so do community announcements and non-profit agencies pleas for help.
Though we are required by law (being non-commercial station) to provide these announcements, we at WBRS think that it is the very least we can do.
It is important to us to stay in touch with the community. We are, after all, a community station. And we need to remeber that. By providing this service, we do. We stay in touch with what is going on in the community with updates on community calendar listings. We remind the community that itŐs no good to drink and drive. We let you know that Smokey says: Only you can prevent forest fires. We tell you to be kind to your neighbors. And we let you know that children are our most valuable resource.
It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
