The Music Department is WBRS’s largest department, with over 40 original and diverse music shows broadcast every week. In addition to our on-air programs, the Music Department oversees WBRS’s extensive physical and digital music collections. With one of the largest record collections in New England, and an ever-growing library of new CDs and MP3s, our DJs have a comprehensive and eclectic array of music to pull from. The WBRS Music Department also puts on concerts at Brandeis’s student-run coffeehouse, Cholmondeley’s (more often known as “Chum’s”). Averaging four or five shows each semester, bands we’ve brought in the past include The Antlers, Vundabar, Best Coast, Cloud Nothings, Das Racist, Oberhofer, Phantogram, Sleigh Bells, the So So Glos, Surfer Blood, Titus Andronicus, tUnE-yArDs, Twin Shadow, Wavves, YACHT, Tei Shi, and many more.
WBRS works with Brandeis Campus Activities Board to put on Springfest, a huge annual concert that brings a wide range of artists to Brandeis. In 2016, T-Pain, Metro Boomin, The Internet, and Foxtrax performed at Springfest. In past years, artists like Kendrick Lamar, Icona Pop, Childish Gambino, RJD2, American Authors, St. Lucia, ILOVEMAKONNEN, and of Montreal have come to the campus. Be sure to check the WBRS Upcoming Events page to see what we have planned for this semester!

Afrolife with Michée Kikobo
Afrolife is a new pathway to introduce the Brandeis community to artists they may not have been exposed to - such as bigger and up-and-coming African artists, including Brandeis students who fit this description. The purpose of this show is to both entertain and inspire listeners. I want to take a bit of time to translate and explain the songs I play in French, which is the show's main language. I'd also love to suggest playlists that help with students' studying, such as R&B, classical, and Afropop. I'll start the show with new, trending music for about 15 minutes, or 3 songs. The main section will consist of me playing some own favorites (followed by translations and inspiring me.) Last, I'll introduce 3 new artists, and I'd also like to occasionally have guests talk about music and how it inspires them. Most of this language will be in foreign languages such as French and multiple native African languages.
AIRS: Fridays @ 5pm
